Rio Grande City is a city in Starr County, Texas, United States. It is located on the northern side of the Rio Grande, across from the Mexican city of Camargo. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 13,834, up from 11,591 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Starr County. The climate in Rio Grande City is typical of south Texas, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from the mid-40s in winter to the mid-90s in summer. Rainfall is frequent from April to September, and there are usually occasional snowfall and sleet during the winter months.
