Arctic Bay is a hamlet located in the northern part of the Canadian territory of Nunavut. It is located on the northern coast of Baffin Island, approximately 725 km (450 mi) northeast of Iqaluit. The climate in Arctic Bay is a cold, dry Arctic climate with long, cold winters and short, cool summers. The average temperature year round is below 0°C (32°F). Snow can fall at any time of year, with the heaviest snowfalls in May, June, and early July. The summer months are relatively mild, with temperatures ranging from -10°C (14°F) to 10°C (50°F). Precipitation is low, with only about 200 mm (8 in) of rain falling annually.
