Resolute is a small hamlet located in Nunavut, Canada. It is the northernmost community in Canada and the second most northerly permanent settlement in the world. The climate in Resolute is very cold and dry, with average temperatures ranging from -20 to -40 degrees Celsius in winter and 0 to 10 degrees Celsius in summer. Snowfall is heavy and frequent throughout the year, with an average accumulation of over 2 meters annually. The summer months experience a short thaw period in which the temperature can reach a balmy 10 degrees Celsius, but the thaw is short-lived and temperatures quickly return to frigid levels.
